科普工作委员会主任张闯研究员做题为“Let women hold up half sky in physics”的主题报告。
报告展示了从古代到近代中国女性地位的提升，特别是大陆首位诺贝尔奖得主是女性。这是中国科学界的骄傲，更是中国女科技工作者的骄傲。报告还列举了几年前史寒朵女同学在国际物理奥林匹克竞赛中获得了三项第一名的傲人成绩。

中国科学院物理所金奎娟研究员、北京大学王前教授、南京大学彭茹雯教授，以及云南大学史衍丽教授分别做了题为“低维氧化物中的光电物理研究”、“五边形石墨烯：碳材料的拓宽与数学模型的实现”、“让金属实现宽带透明”，以及“宽光谱InGaAs探测器及应用”的学术报告。报告会后，播放由学会会刊——《物理》编辑部制作的《庆祝中国物理学会女物理工作者委员会成立十五周年》纪念短片。

2017年9月，学会收到“蔡诗东等离子体物理奖”（简称“蔡诗东奖”）评审委员会提交的“将蔡诗东等离子体物理奖纳入中国物理学会奖项的申请”。会议讨论认为，该奖冠名人——蔡诗东先生，与学会其他奖项的冠名人——胡刚复、饶毓泰、叶企孙、吴有训、王淦昌、周培源、黄昆、谢希德、萨本栋等9位老先生，无论是年龄还是学术影响都有一定的差距，因此，该奖不宜纳入学会奖项体系。
依托国家自然科学基金委“理论物理学术交流和人才培养平台建设”项目，西南交通大学、四川大学、重庆大学、西藏大学等共同倡议每年举办一次“西南地区理论物理学术研讨会”，由“西南地区理论物理学术研讨会”组织单位轮流主办。第一届研讨会将于2018年1月13-15日（12日报到）在西南交通大学峨眉校区召开，由西南交通大学物理科学与技术学院理论物理中心承办。
2017年11月22日，中国科学院（CAS）—德国马普学会（MPG）“低频引力波天文学和空间引力物理”联合研究项目启动仪式暨学术研讨会在国家天文台召开。该联合项目的中方召集人、先导B首席科学家武向平院士与该项目的德方召集人、马普射电天文研究所所长Michael Kramer，共同策划和组织了此次启动仪式及学术研讨会。
