中国台湾工业设计协会成立于1967年12月12日。三十余年来，协会致力于提升我国工业设计师之能力与其地位，促进工业设计同业间之交流。会员人数约有八百位个人会员，包含国内工业设计专业、设计教育、设计推广及其它各类设计领域等人士；约二十名团体会员，包括明基、灿坤等企业设计部门及浩汉、ndd等设计公司；协会同时也是ICSID（国际工业设计社团协会）的专业团体会员。
