中国、英国、澳大利亚和加拿大等国的古生物研究人员2018年10月12日在北京共同宣布，他们发现了世界上首例保存了触角等软组织的白垩纪蜗牛琥珀，距今大约一亿年。此研究成果已由专业学术刊物《白垩纪研究》在线发表。
和蘑菇菌盖涟漪状内侧相像的化石痕迹，是地球历史上已知最古老动物的残留物。这项日前发表于《科学》杂志的发现，基于对保存在化石中的脂肪分子进行的化学分析。它或许改变了动物和其他复杂生命如何出现的现有故事。
