自然界中的植物种群往往呈现聚集分布,但物种分布究竟由什么因素决定?我校浙江天童森林生态系统国家野外科学观测研究站沈国春博士、长江讲座教授何芳良博士与合作者对近400个物种进行了“空间方差分解法”统计,该研究检验了热带、亚热带和温带三个植物群落内341个植物种群的空间格局的形成机制,得到的一般化结论表明:植物种子的扩散比生长环境更重要。
生物地上地下互作问题是近年来很多生态学家关注的热点。植食者地上地下互作对于植物种群和群落结构组成具有重要影响。很多外来植物的成功入侵归因于逃逸了与其协同进化的天敌昆虫(天敌假说)以及可能的资源再分配(进化增强竞争力假说)。然而以往的研究多集中于入侵植物与地上昆虫之间的相互作用,忽略了地下昆虫以及地上昆虫和地下昆虫之间相互作用对入侵植物的影响。
