国际术语信息中心是在奥地利标准化协会（Austrian Standards Institute，ON）接管的ISO/TC 37术语学工作组秘书处基础上，于1971年根据联合国教科文组织和奥地利标准化协会所签的合同正式成立的。该中心是一家非常活跃的国际非盈利性协会，其北京办事处设在中国标准化研究院。

北京市语言文字工作委员会贯彻执行国家语言文字工作的方针政策，贯彻执行国家以及有关部门公布发表的各项通用语言文字规范标准，编制语言文字工作的中长期计划，依法对社会语言文字应用实施管理和监督，大力推广和积极普及普通话，进一步推行《汉语拼音方案》促进语言文字的规范化、标准化。北京市语委办是市语委的常设机构，是市教委的内设处室，现设编制3人。
