据物理学家组织网2010年9月28日(北京时间)报道,世界第一台全景式巡天望远镜和快速反应系统(Pan-STARRS)中的PS1望远镜发现了一个小行星,今年10月中旬该小行星将到达距地球650万千米之内。小行星9月16日出现在望远镜搜寻景区内,直径约46米,当时距地球约3200万千米。这是Pan-STARRS通过搜巡发现的第一个“潜在风险目标”(PHO),研究人员将其命名为“2010 ST3”。
