2023年6月21日,国际学术期刊《自然》在线发表中国天眼FAST取得的一项重要成果。该团队利用中国天眼FAST发现了一个名为PSR J1953+1844(M71E)的双星,其轨道周期仅为53分钟,是目前发现轨道周期最短的脉冲星双星系统。该发现填补了蜘蛛类脉冲星系统演化模型中缺失的一环。
